Description
"Refuge of Leaves" is a meticulously crafted sculpture, available in a very limited edition. The artist employed traditional techniques including the use of files, wire brushes, cutters and silver melds to create this piece, which was inspired by the ancient Japanese art of flower arrangement known as Ikebana. Collaborating with Vasso Morfiadaki, the artist designed this piece as a celebration of the relationships between humans, the earth, and the sky. Through the use of branches, leaves, grains, seeds, fruit and flowers, the sculpture offers a depiction of the cycle of life and death, and a promise of rebirth. Each piece is unique due to the nature of handcrafting. "Refuge of Leaves" is made of bronze, with a dark bronze patina, copper, and silver, and measures W 48 - D 10 - H 39 cm.
