Description
The "Sleeping almond tree" is a limited edition handmade sculpture created with utmost care, using traditional methods like files, wire brushes, cutters, and silver melds. This sculpture was inspired by the Japanese art of flower arrangement known as Ikebana and was designed in collaboration with Vasso Morfiadaki. Ikebana is a formalized ritual of arranging flowers in vases to reflect the principles of the universe, with the aim of enhancing the flowers' healing properties and rejuvenating the human spirit.
The sculpture is crafted from materials like bronze, with a dark bronze patina and copper, and has dimensions of W 60 - D 10 - H 75cm. The use of branches, leaves, grains, seeds, fruit, and flowers in the sculpture creates an abstract and simplistic representation of the relationship between man, earth, and sky, celebrating the cycle of life and death, and promising rebirth. Due to the nature of handcrafting, each piece is unique.
